Readymoney Cove is 1.4km on foot - a 15 to 20-minute walk south through the town. The passenger ferry to Polruan departs from the quay nearby, giving access to the Hall Walk - a 4-mile National Trust coastal and woodland trail along the opposite bank of the Fowey river. St Catherine’s Castle, a small Henry VIII coastal fort managed by English Heritage, is directly above Readymoney Cove. Lantic Bay, a quieter sandy beach on the south coast, is around 2.2km by ferry and footpath.

This suits couples looking for a town-centre base with the river on the doorstep - breakfast with boats passing, walk to dinner, no car needed during the stay. Less good for those needing parking or a car-dependent base: Fowey’s narrow streets make driving impractical and the public car park is a short uphill walk from the apartment. No washing machine means it is less suited to stays longer than four or five nights without planning for laundry.
