Innisfree

Innisfree is a three-bedroom semi-detached villa in Carbis Bay, with panoramic sea views from most rooms, its balconies and the garden. The ground floor holds the open-plan kitchen, dining and sitting space, a double bedroom off the hallway, a cloakroom with WC and basin, and a utility room with the washing machine and drying racks. French doors with white-washed concertina shutters open to a seaward patio.

Upstairs, the king-size main bedroom has an en-suite with a walk-in shower and a balcony where folding chairs are kept. The twin room has sea views too. The family bathroom has a bath and a hand-held shower. The rear garden is enclosed and has a large lawn and an elevated patio with wooden furniture, and a hose at the side is for rinsing sandy feet and wetsuits. Barbecues are not permitted. The oak dining table has bench seating for up to six.

Off-road parking takes 2 cars. Guests should not charge electric vehicles here: there is no external charging point and the indoor sockets must not be used. A carpeted flight of stairs leads to the first-floor bedrooms and bathroom. The beach is 0.4 miles away, the shop 0.3 miles, and St Ives is a 30-minute walk along the coast path, or a 2-minute train ride back.

It suits a family of up to six, with the ground-floor double for whoever prefers to avoid stairs at night. It is less good for anyone who needs to charge an electric car. No smoking. Check-in is from 4pm and check-out from 10am.
