Mawgan Porth beach is 300 metres down the road - a wide sandy bay at the mouth of the Vale of Mawgan that's popular with families and bodyboarders. The Scarlet Hotel sits on the south headland and runs a surf school in summer. The beach has a beach shop and seasonal cafe. At low tide the sand extends a long way, with the stream running through the middle of the bay.

Bedruthan Steps is 1.9km north along the coast - the famous stack beach managed by the National Trust, where access down to the beach is via a steep staircase. Watergate Bay, with the Jamie Oliver restaurant and the Extreme Academy water sports centre, is 3.2km south. Newquay town is about 10km, reachable in 15 minutes by car.
