Macdonald's Farm

Macdonald's Farm is a family-run bed and breakfast on a working farm near St Ervan, a few miles inland from the north Cornwall coast in the Seven Bays area. Rooms have private bathrooms, and some look over the garden or out to sea, with a sofa bed, dining table, fridge and TV in each. Check-in runs from 15:00 and check-out is 11:00.

Guests can meet the farm's ponies and animals and help feed them, with a sun terrace, garden and outdoor fireplace for cooler evenings. A wood burner heats the on-site cafe and bar, and there's an indoor and outdoor play area plus a games room for children. Breakfast covers continental, full English/Irish and vegetarian options, and a minimarket covers anything guests forget. Safari lodge tents with their own firepits are also available for glamping stays on the same farm.

Porthcothan Bay Beach is around 1,300 metres away, roughly a ten-minute walk down the valley, and Bedruthan Steps is 1.4 miles further along the coast. Newquay Cornwall Airport is 5 miles away, and a bus stop on site runs services along the coast in both directions. Parking is free and on-site.

Best for families who want farm animals and open space close by. Less good for guests wanting a flat, five-minute stroll to the sand, since the path to Porthcothan drops into a valley and climbs back up.
