Merryweather Cottage

Merryweather Cottage is a cottage with sea views in Carlyon Bay, 100 metres from the beach in this sheltered south coast bay east of St Austell. The views from the property look out toward Charlestown, 900 metres to the west along the coast.

Inside, the open-plan lounge and kitchen/diner is arranged over the ground floor. The lounge has a wood burner, Smart TV, and bi-fold doors opening onto an enclosed courtyard. The kitchen is equipped with electric oven, hob, microwave, Nespresso machine, dishwasher and washing machine. A king-size bedroom on the ground floor can be configured as a twin on request. Note: there is no wifi.

Charlestown - the working Georgian harbour that has served as a filming location for Poldark - is under a mile along the South West Coast Path, or a short drive. The Eden Project is around 10 minutes by car, and the Lost Gardens of Heligan roughly the same. Carlyon Bay itself has a golf course and spa hotel if guests want facilities beyond the beach.

Best for couples or small families who want beach access and easy reach of mid-Cornwall's two major attractions. Less good for those needing wifi, or for anyone wanting a livelier town base - St Austell is nearby but Carlyon Bay itself is quiet.
