Dates for the 2027 Looe Lugger Classics have not been announced. The organiser’s site still carries the completed 2026 regatta, which ran from Friday 31 July to Sunday 2 August, and gives no 2027 range.
A 2027 edition is expected. The Cornish Lugger Association states on its own site that the regatta, once biennial, is now an annual event. Recent editions have fallen in late July or early August, but treat that as a pattern rather than a date until the association publishes one.
What the regatta involves
Historic fishing luggers and traditional gaff-rigged yachts gather in Looe Harbour for a weekend of sailing in the bay alongside maritime activity ashore. The lugger takes its name from its distinctive lug rig, and many surviving boats are more than a century old. Looe’s last official sailing regatta for these working vessels before the modern revival was held in 1911; the Cornish Lugger Association formed in 1989 to bring them back.
The 2026 regatta incorporated the Made-in-Looe Regatta, with a Regatta Village at Mally’s Shed on West Looe Quay carrying music, food, heritage displays, maritime talks and demonstrations.

Admission: Spectator admission has not been stated by the organiser. Entry forms and crew fees apply to participating boats, not to people watching from the quay.
Programme: Sailing depends on weather and tide. In 2026 the shoreside programme ran whether or not conditions allowed racing, so a blown-out day still had music, food and talks.
Viewing: Boats assemble in and around the harbour before sailing into Looe Bay. Keep working quays, crew access and safety areas clear.
