The harbour - with its cluster of restaurants, fish-and-chip shops, and independent traders - is a 0.4-mile flat walk along the waterfront. Porthleven is known for its exposed Atlantic swell and is one of the most-watched surf spots in south Cornwall during winter storms.

Porthcew Rinsey Cove is 4.1km for a quieter swimming spot, and Gunwalloe Church Cove Beach is 5.7km along the coast towards the Lizard. The property has no outdoor garden or terrace - the seafront view and French doors are the main outdoor connection.
