Carbis Bay is around 500 metres downhill - a sheltered, south-facing sandy beach with a relatively gentle gradient, making it one of the calmer swimming beaches in the area compared to the more exposed Atlantic-facing coves. The Carbis Bay branch line railway halt sits directly above the beach and connects to St Erth on the mainline, giving train access to Penzance and beyond without needing a car.

St Ives is roughly 1.5km along the coast, reachable on foot via the South West Coast Path or by the branch line in 3 minutes. Porthminster Beach, St Ives's sheltered south-facing bay, is also accessible on that walk. St Ives Harbour beach is around 1.7km.

Carbis Bay village has a pub, a hotel with a spa, and a small number of local businesses. It is quieter than St Ives itself, which can become very crowded with day visitors in summer. The area is rated one of the sunniest parts of Cornwall based on met office annual sunshine figures.

Best for families or groups of up to 6 who want direct beach access on foot and the option to reach St Ives without driving. Good for dog owners. Not ideal for those who want urban amenities immediately outside the door.
