Sail Boats

Sail Boats is a single-storey beachfront cottage in Marazion, sleeping two in one bedroom with direct access to the sand along Mount's Bay. The property sits on Old Station Lane at the western end of town, with a private garden and parking on-site. St Michael's Mount rises directly offshore - at low tide you can walk out on the granite causeway; at high tide the ferry runs from the beach just outside.

Inside, the cottage has wi-fi and a washing machine. No dishwasher, but at this size that's rarely missed. Dogs are welcome. Saturday changeover suits a weekend break or full week.

Long Rock Beach is 900 metres west along the foreshore. Marazion Beach itself is 0.8 miles east, a mile-long south-facing strand with shallow water and unbroken views to the Mount across the bay. Penzance town centre is 3 miles east for shops, restaurants, and the Penlee House gallery, which holds the strongest collection of Newlyn School paintings in the county.

Marazion holds the claim as one of the oldest chartered towns in Britain, and the causeway to St Michael's Mount has been used since at least the 11th century. The National Trust manages the Mount and the ferry runs from April to October.

Best for couples who want a low-key beachside base with the spectacle of St Michael's Mount on the doorstep. Less good for anyone hoping for more than one bedroom or a kitchen for serious cooking.
