The Fowey passenger ferry operates from the village quay a short walk away, crossing to Fowey town in under five minutes. From there, the estuary path north or the coast path south towards Polperro are both accessible without a car. The cottage sits within the historic port area at the mouth of the river, with views across to the headland where St Catherine's Castle stands above the estuary entrance.

Readymoney Cove is 1km on foot, a small sheltered sandy beach below the castle that suits younger children and calmer swimming conditions. Lantic Bay is 2.2km further along the coast path - a larger and more exposed beach, less crowded than Readymoney but requiring a steep descent. Lansallos Beach at 4.1km adds a third option for longer coastal walks.

Suits couples or small families who want a compact base in a genuine working harbour setting rather than a tourist resort. Less suitable for guests needing easy car access to supermarkets - Polruan is reached via a narrow ferry road and provisions are limited in the village.
