Carbis Bay Beach is 500 metres on foot - a south-facing sandy bay that stays sheltered in most wind directions, with a hotel and spa at its back. The beach is calmer and less crowded than the beaches in St Ives itself, which makes it a practical option for families. Porthminster Beach in St Ives is 1.5km, and the harbour beach 1.7km.

St Ives is reachable on foot along the coast path in around 20 minutes, or by the St Ives Bay Line - one of the most scenic railway branches in Britain, running along the cliff edge from St Erth. The branch line station in Carbis Bay is a short walk from the cottage. The Tate St Ives gallery, the Barbara Hepworth Sculpture Garden, and the concentration of independent galleries around the harbour are all walkable from the St Ives station.

The cottage's position gives access to St Ives' visitor infrastructure - restaurants, galleries, and the beach - while sitting outside the town's summer parking problems. Carbis Bay is residential and quieter at night.
