Sunbeam

Sunbeam is a one-bedroom glamping pod on farmland near Bude in north Cornwall, sleeping two with a king-size bed and one bathroom. It has parking on site and a decked BBQ area, but does not accept dogs. There is no Wi-Fi either - this is a rural location with fields rather than town amenities, and host Robert manages the booking.

Summerleaze Beach is 1.4 miles away - Bude's main beach with a tidal seawater pool that's safe for swimming in most conditions, patrolled by RNLI lifeguards in summer. Crooklets Beach, the main surf beach, is 1.7 miles. Widemouth Bay is 2.2 miles south for longer surf runs on a bigger stretch of sand.

Bude town centre is a short drive, with cafes, surf hire shops, and the 19th-century Bude Canal running inland from the harbour for flat-water kayaking. The South West Coast Path passes through in both directions, with cliff walking north towards Hartland and south towards Boscastle. The rural setting means fields and hedgerows rather than streetlights, so a torch is worth packing for the walk back from the car after dark.

**Best for:** Couples wanting a low-cost base for north Cornwall surf beaches, happy to trade amenities for a rural setting and fresh air. **Less good for:** Dog owners, anyone needing Wi-Fi, a full kitchen or a washing machine, or those wanting to walk to the beach or town centre.
