Two-bed semi-detached barn conversion inside Cardinham Woods, bookable via Toad Hall or HolidayCottages. Sleeps 4 in a king and twin. The converted Cornish barn sits on the Forestry England woodland complex, 4 miles east of Bodmin and 2 miles north of Lanhydrock.

Layout is straightforward: open-plan living-kitchen with wood burner downstairs, two bedrooms and the single bathroom above. Cornish welcome hamper and toiletries on arrival. Two dogs welcome.

The view is what sets this barn apart on the complex. The private patio looks south down the Glynn Valley and across the Lanhydrock Estate - landscaped gardens around the barn frame the outlook. The wood-fired hot tub sits on the patio. Guests also have exclusive use of the on-site woodland spa, which adds a sauna and a larger hot tub.

The trail network is the operational draw. Four waymarked Forestry England walks (Lady Vale, Rover, Wheal Glynn and Hurricane, ranging from a 1-mile streamside loop to a 4-mile climb past an old lead mine) leave from the Cardinham Woods Cafe car park, a 5-minute walk from the barn. Mountain bikers get blue and red trails from the same car park, with bike hire on site. The south coast is around 25 minutes by car: Carlyon Bay and Charlestown sit 15-9.9 miles away, Readymoney Cove at Fowey the same.

Best for a couple or family of four wanting a hot tub, a valley view and trails from the door. Less good for guests after a beach holiday - the closest sand is a 25-minute drive each way.
