The Counting House

The Counting House is a two-bedroom terraced house for four in Fowey, the working harbour town where Daphne du Maurier once lived. The period property occupies a former Victorian flour mill and has country-style interiors. One bedroom contains a super king; the other is a twin, but its top bunk is unavailable for use. Two bathrooms serve the group, useful for two couples sharing.

A gas wood burner-effect fire provides the main indoor feature, and a decked garden area has outdoor furniture. Wi-Fi, parking, a dishwasher and washing machine are included, and up to two dogs can stay. The harbour's edge is 100 metres away, placing the town's shops, restaurants and riverside close to the house.

Fowey remains a working cargo port as well as a holiday town, and the passenger ferry to Polruan crosses in under five minutes from the harbour. Readymoney Cove sits at the harbour mouth below St Catherine's Castle and is 0.8 miles away, Lantic Bay is 1.5 miles and Lansallos Beach is 2.5 miles from the property. These distances give a clearer guide than describing every beach as nearby.

**Best for:** four guests wanting two bathrooms, a gas wood burner-effect fire, a decked garden and Fowey harbour within a recorded 100 metres.

**Less good for:** guests who need step-free access or an unqualified twin setup, because the top bunk is unavailable.
