The Reading Room

The Reading Room is a single-storey, 1-bedroom cottage in the hamlet of Seworgan near Constantine, set in the rural landscape above the Helford River. It sleeps 2 with 1 bathroom (including a bath) and is suited to couples looking for a quiet countryside retreat rather than a beach-first holiday.

The cottage is fully on one level, which makes access straightforward. The decked terrace has a barbecue and connects to the garden - practical for warm evenings. Wi-Fi and parking are included. There is no dishwasher or washing machine, and the property does not accept dogs. Friday changeover.

Constantine village is about a mile away with a pub, community arts centre, and village shop. The Helford River is the main draw in this area. Trebah and Glendurgan, two valley gardens run by the National Botanic Garden of Wales and the National Trust respectively, sit about 2 miles east and are open year-round. The nearest beach is Helford Passage, 4.2 miles south, where the Ferryboat Inn sits right on the water. Falmouth - with Gylly Beach, the National Maritime Museum, and the town's restaurants - is around 15 minutes by car. The Cornish Seal Sanctuary at Gweek is about 3 miles away.

Best for: couples wanting rural quiet with easy access to the Helford and gardens. Less good for: those wanting a beach on the doorstep, or groups larger than 2.
