The Shell Seekers

The Shell Seekers is a two-bedroom cottage on Station Road in Fowey, sleeping four in the heart of one of south Cornwall's most characterful harbour towns. Period fireplaces, a tiered enclosed garden, and a ground-floor position on one of Fowey's main residential streets make it a practical base for exploring the estuary and the coast east of the town.

Inside, the cottage has 2 bedrooms and a single bathroom, with a dishwasher and Wi-Fi included. Dogs are welcome, and off-road parking is provided - useful given the narrow lanes running down to the Fowey waterfront. The enclosed garden sits above street level with aspects across the estuary, offering a quiet spot at the end of a day on the coast.

Readymoney Cove is about 900 metres on foot - a sheltered sandy cove below St Catherine's Castle, the Henry VIII artillery fort built between 1538 and 1540. Lantic Bay, a quieter National Trust beach reached via a steep 20-30 minute walk, is roughly 1.5 miles away. Fowey's town centre is walkable from the door - Sam's on Fore Street has served locally landed fish since 1987, and the Fowey to Polruan passenger ferry crossing takes under 5 minutes.

Best for: couples or families of 4 who want a Fowey base with dog-friendly access, walking distance to the estuary and beaches, and genuine period character. Less good for: guests expecting a modern open-plan layout or a large garden, or those relying on a second bathroom.
