Three-bedroom cottage in Cubert, sleeping 4 in a double and two singles. The lounge opens through bi-folding doors to a wood-fired hot tub in the garden - the headline feature of this property and what separates it from its neighbours on the same site. Holywell Bay is a one-mile walk west across open fields.

The cottage runs to one bathroom for three bedrooms, so it works better for a family with young kids than for two couples sharing. Wifi, dishwasher, washing machine and BBQ are included. Two dogs are welcome, and guests get access to a 2-acre shared paddock for off-lead exercise. The setting is a cluster of converted barns rather than a remote rural plot, so expect neighbours within sight.

The footpath west drops onto Holywell Bay, a long sandy beach with the Sloop and Twin Rocks tidal stacks visible at low water. Porth Joke is the same one-mile walk via the same path, quieter and dog-friendly year round. Crantock Beach is 1.9 km north-west across the Gannel. The Smugglers Den Inn at Trebellan, a 16th-century thatched pub, is a mile south. Newquay and Fistral surf are 4 miles north, and Newquay Zoo is a 15-minute drive.

Best for dog-owning families who want a hot tub and a beach walk from the door. Less good for two couples sharing - the single bathroom is the limit.
