The Threshing Barn

The Threshing Barn is a two-bedroom barn conversion in the grounds of Cusgarne House, in the village of Cusgarne in the wooded Carnon Valley south-east of Truro. The barn sleeps four across two bedrooms and one bathroom, with a dog-friendly policy and on-site parking. It sits alongside Church Close Cottage in the same estate grounds.

Inside, a wood burner heats the sitting room, and the kitchen comes with a dishwasher and washing machine. The layout is compact - two bedrooms and a single shared bathroom is the practical setup. The converted barn character brings exposed beams and thick walls rather than a modern-build feel.

Outside, the garden has a BBQ and is enclosed within the mature grounds of Cusgarne House. The Carnon Valley runs into the Bissoe Valley cycle trail along a former mining tramway - flat and easy for families on bikes. Truro is about 6 miles by road, with Cornwall's only cathedral, the Lemon Street Market, and Hall for Cornwall. The Fal Estuary creekside villages and Falmouth are roughly 12 miles south.

Best for couples or small families who want a rural Cornish base with good access to Truro and the south coast without paying coastal premiums. Less suited to guests expecting a beach-side location - the nearest coast is 20 minutes by car.
