Trevena

Trevena is a cottage on Colgrease Farm, a 10-acre smallholding between Crantock and Cubert, sleeping four and reached along a three-quarter-mile unmade farm track that keeps it away from either village.

A short flight of steps leads up to the front door. Inside, an open-plan living space combines a well-equipped kitchen, dining area and sitting area, with a double bedroom and a twin bedroom leading off it. There is a shower room and a separate WC rather than a full bathroom suite. There is no wifi, though an EV charging point is available on site, and the dishwasher and washing machine are useful for a longer stay.

Outside, an enclosed patio looks over the smallholding's fields, where sheep and chickens graze and buzzards, kestrels and owls are regular visitors. The farm sits about 1.5 miles inland from the coast path, with a seal colony that hauls out on rocks between Polly Joke and Holywell. Crantock Beach is 1.6 miles away, backed by dunes and the Gannel Estuary, and Vugga Cove is 1.9 miles in the other direction. The whole farm is non-smoking.

Best for guests who want a quiet, wildlife-rich base away from summer crowds and don't mind evenings without wifi. Less good for anyone who struggles with steps, since the entrance involves them, or guests hoping to bring a dog, as pets are not accepted here.
