Grade II Glynn Valley lodge and stable, river fishing, near St Neot

Treverbyn Vean Lodge & Stable is a pair of Grade II listed properties in the Glynn Valley, on the southern edge of Bodmin Moor near St Neot village. The lodge and the converted stable sit side by side in almost an acre of grounds running down to the River Loveny, and fishing rights on the river are included with the booking. The combined property sleeps four across six bedrooms and three bathrooms.

The Lodge is the standout building: Gothic windows, arched doorways, and beamed ceilings survive from the original structure, with the interior refurbished to a contemporary standard. Wood burners sit in both the living room and the dining room. The Stable has been converted as a separate self-contained holiday home sharing the same grounds - useful if guests want connected but private spaces. Dishwasher, washing machine, wi-fi, and EV charging are all provided. A homemade welcome cake is left on arrival.

St Neot village is a short drive away. Its 15th-century church holds 17 medieval stained glass windows, among the most complete pre-Reformation glazing in Cornwall. Golitha Falls - a National Nature Reserve where the young River Fowey drops through ancient oak woodland - is around 3 miles. The south Cornwall coast (Seaton Beach, East Looe Beach) is roughly 13-14 miles south via the A38. The Eden Project lies about 6 miles to the south-east.

Best for: those wanting countryside seclusion with genuinely historic surroundings and access to walking on the moor. Less good for: beach-first holidays - the coast is a 25-minute drive.
