Bugle
China clay village in mid-Cornwall
Bugle is a village in mid-Cornwall that grew up in the 19th century around the china clay industry. The white spoil heaps of the clay pits - sometimes called the Cornish Alps - are a distinctive feature of the landscape around the village.
The Eden Project is about 4 miles south-east. St Austell, the nearest town, is about 4 miles south. The village is on the A391 road and has a railway station on the Atlantic Coast Line between Par and Newquay. The north Cornwall coast at Newquay is about 12 miles north, making Bugle a reasonably central base for exploring both coasts.
