Buller Cottage

Buller is a two-bedroom dog-friendly cottage at Trenant Farm near Pelynt, one mile from Looe on the south coast. It sleeps two and sits in a small group of converted farm cottages, each with its own outdoor space.

The cottage has one bathroom, an open fire in the sitting room, a dishwasher, washing machine and wifi throughout. The layout is all on the ground floor. The interior leans traditional rather than contemporary - more cottage than design hotel.

The enclosed garden takes the dog-friendly brief seriously: fully fenced, with private parking directly outside. The wider farm grounds are quiet, with paddocks rather than passing traffic.

Looe has its working harbour, East Looe Beach sheltered by the harbour walls, and a row of fish restaurants on the quayside that buy off the boats each morning. The South West Coast Path runs west from Looe to Talland Bay and on to Polperro (3 miles), or east via Plaidy along the cliffs to Whitsand Bay. Looe Island - a Cornwall Wildlife Trust seal reserve - runs boat trips Easter to October.

Best for: couples with a dog wanting a rural base near the coast without staying in town. Less good for groups - it sleeps two only, and the setting is quiet by design.
