A one-bedroom apartment in Newquay’s Ocean Gate complex, sleeping two, with a covered balcony and a private parking space. Fistral Beach is 300 metres from the building - Newquay’s largest surf beach and the venue for the annual Boardmasters festival each August.

The apartment is open-plan across lounge, kitchen and dining, with a king-size bedroom separate from the living area. The covered balcony has a table and chairs and stays usable even in cooler weather. A washing machine and dishwasher are included, which matters on longer stays. The apartment is on the first floor, reached by stairs or a lift, with secure parking for one car under the building. One bathroom serves the apartment, and Wi-Fi is included for anyone who needs to stay connected on a longer stay.

Towan Beach, the town’s central beach with its harbour, is 0.7 miles east. Crantock Beach - quieter, less surfy, and across the Gannel Estuary - is 1 mile. Watergate Bay is a 10-minute drive north along the coast road, with its own surf school and beach cafe.

Best for: couples who want to walk to the surf, and eat out in the evenings. Less good for: groups (only sleeps two), or anyone who needs a dog-friendly property.
