8 The Park

8 The Park is a single-storey cottage on the Penstowe Holiday Village site in Kilkhampton near Bude, 5 miles north of the town. The all-ground-floor layout includes a walk-in shower, and one well-behaved dog is welcome.

Inside, two bedrooms - one double, one twin - share a shower room with basin and WC. The open-plan living space has a kitchen with electric oven, hob, microwave, and fridge, alongside a sitting and dining area with electric fire. Note: electricity runs on a meter with the first £5 included. Changeover day is Saturday.

A front patio with lawn and outdoor seating faces the holiday village grounds, with off-road parking to the rear. Sandymouth Beach is 2.8 miles away, a wide National Trust-managed strand with seasonal lifeguards and reliable surf. Duckpool Beach, a wilder rocky cove, is 2.9 miles, and Northcott Mouth Beach is the third nearest at 3.2 miles. Kilkhampton has a pub 0.1 miles from the door and a village shop 0.7 miles away. Bude's town beaches and canal are under 20 minutes by car.

Best for: families or couples on a tighter budget who want a dog-friendly ground-floor base within reach of North Cornwall's Atlantic beaches and Bude. Less good for: those expecting a full range of home appliances.
