Bert's Barn

Bert's Barn is a converted three-bedroom barn in Mullion, the largest village on the Lizard. It sleeps six across two bathrooms, with an open fire and an enclosed terrace - practical additions on a peninsula where the weather turns quickly.

The barn has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a garden, Wi-Fi, parking, dishwasher, and washing machine. The open fire in the sitting room is the main feature inside. The enclosed terrace keeps outdoor meals viable even when it's breezy. Changeover is Friday.

Polurrian Beach, a sheltered sandy cove below the cliffs, is 600m away. Poldhu Cove - where Guglielmo Marconi sent the first transatlantic radio signal in 1901 - is 1.1km north; the Marconi Centre is at the top of the cliff above it. Mullion Cove harbour, maintained by the National Trust since the 1890s, is 1.5km south. From the cove, the coast path runs 3 miles south to Kynance Cove, one of the most-photographed beaches in Cornwall.

Best for families or groups of six seeking a quiet Lizard base within walking distance of multiple beaches. Less good for anyone who needs a social village - Mullion has a pub and a shop, but the Lizard is a working landscape, not a resort. The A3083 links Mullion to Helston, the nearest market town, in about 10 minutes.
