Camel Point

Camel Point is a five-bedroom house in Rock, on the east bank of the Camel Estuary opposite Padstow. The property sleeps 12 and comes with a heated private swimming pool, an open fire, and direct access to one of north Cornwall's most sought-after coastal stretches.

The main house has a sitting room with an open fire and comfortable seating, a fully equipped kitchen, and five bedrooms: a king-size with en-suite, a super-king (zip/link, convertible to twin) with en-suite, two twin rooms (beds joinable to super-king), and a family bathroom with bath and hand-held shower. A separate annexe adds a super-king bedroom (convertible to twin) with en-suite, an open-plan sitting room, and its own outside seating area.

The heated outdoor swimming pool is set within the garden, alongside a built-in barbecue, garden furniture, and a fire pit. One dog is welcome. Daymer Bay Beach - a sheltered sandy estuary beach with calm, shallow water - is 1.2 miles away. Greenaway Beach, a quiet cove with rock pools, sits 1.6 miles to the north. Polzeath, with its surf breaks and lifeguard cover, is 2.2 miles further along the coast.

Rock's water taxi crosses to Padstow every 20 minutes, giving access to Rick Stein's restaurants and the harbour. The Camel Trail cycle path starts at Wadebridge, 4 miles south. Port Isaac, the filming location for Doc Martin, is about 8 miles up the coast.

**Best for:** large multi-generational groups after a heated pool and self-contained annexe, given the five en-suite bedrooms split across the main house and separate annexe, plus the private heated swimming pool. **Less good for:** groups travelling with more than one dog, since only one dog is welcome despite the property sleeping 12.
