Tehidy Country Park, a 250-acre woodland managed by Cornwall Council, sits between the cottage and the coast and provides a long walking circuit without needing to drive. Godrevy Beach and its lighthouse are 9.4km, and the National Trust stretch of Gwithian Towans dunes is 9.8km.

Carn Brea hill - the local landmark with its 19th-century castle and war memorial - is visible from the area and offers views across to St Ives Bay on clear days. Redruth and Camborne are each within about 5km for supermarkets and the railway line.
