Chapel House

Chapel House is a Georgian townhouse turned boutique hotel on Chapel Street, the oldest street in Penzance. Six rooms and two suites occupy the upper floors. All face the sea, and three have wide windows looking out across Penzance harbour to St Michael's Mount and Lizard Point beyond.

The walled garden has a hot tub and a sauna. Massage and breathwork sessions can be booked at the front desk. Kitchen Suppers run several evenings a week - drinks first, then a set menu served communally around a long table, with live piano. On warm evenings the meal moves outdoors. There is no on-site car park - council car parks at Wharfside and St Anthony's are within a 5-minute walk. Dogs are welcome in some rooms.

Chapel Street runs from the harbour up through the historic quarter, past the Egyptian House (1835) and the Admiral Benbow. The Exchange gallery and independent shops line the route. The Art Deco Jubilee Pool lido, geothermally heated since 2020, is a 10-minute walk along the promenade. The Scillonian III ferry to St Mary's leaves from the harbour below. Newlyn and its working fish market sit a mile south. St Michael's Mount at Marazion is 3 miles east.

Best for couples wanting a small, design-led base with a sociable supper option and the harbour on the doorstep. Less good for guests with a car who need on-site parking, or families with young children - this is an adult-leaning hotel with a single long table at supper.
