Duckpool

Duckpool is a one-bedroom cottage set within 18 acres of shared grounds on the north Cornwall coast, sleeping 2 in a double bedroom. The layout puts the double bedroom and bathroom on the ground floor, with the open-plan living area upstairs. Wi-Fi, dishwasher, washing machine, and private parking are included, and up to 2 dogs are welcome.

The grounds have tennis and badminton courts plus nature trails - useful on days when the beaches are crowded. Widemouth Bay is 1.4 miles away, a wide sandy beach with reliable surf, RNLI lifeguards in season, and a car park with a cafe. Bude town centre is about 3 miles north, where Summerleaze Beach has Cornwall's only tidal sea pool and the 19th-century Bude Canal is open for kayaking.

Further north along the Heritage Coast, Duckpool Beach is about 3 miles away - a remote National Trust cove backed by dramatic cliffs and large boulders, with no lifeguards and no facilities, but worth the short drive for the scenery. The South West Coast Path runs through this stretch of coastline from Bude.

**Best for:** Couples or solo travellers with a dog who want a quiet countryside base with coast path and surf within easy reach. **Less good for:** Groups larger than 2, or anyone needing more than basic cottage facilities - no hot tub or second bedroom.
