Flow Roundhouse, East Thorne

A two-bedroom circular roundhouse lodge for four at East Thorne, a small rural site 5 miles north of Bude near Kilkhampton. Flow sits under an exposed timber curved roof with a large porthole skylight, with a private hot tub at the front and the East Thorne campfire ground a short walk away.

The layout puts a main double and compact kitchen under the dome, with a second double bedroom and a walk-in shower room completing the build. The hot tub is electric and screened by a locally made metal panel for privacy from neighbours. Wifi, parking, an enclosed garden and a BBQ are included; dogs are welcome. Sleeps four maximum, and small inside - this is a couples-or-family-of-four space, not a group lodge. Rated 4.9/5 from five guest reviews.

Sandymouth (National Trust beach with rockpools and a cliff cafe) is the closest at 3.6 miles. Northcott Mouth, where the rusted ribs of the SS Belem appear at low tide, is 3.8 miles. Bude town centre, the tidal sea pool carved into Summerleaze Beach, and the 19th-century Bude Canal are all a 10-minute drive. Stratton's 16th-century Tree Inn is 4 miles south for a pub lunch.

Best for two adults plus two children, or two couples sharing, after a hot-tub-and-firepit countryside week with the coast nearby. Less good for groups bigger than four, or guests wanting a beach-front base.
