Greenaway Beach is 600 metres from the cottage - a sheltered cove at the southern end of the Polzeath headland, popular with families for its calmer water. Polzeath's main surf beach is 700 metres away and is one of the more accessible surf breaks on the north Cornwall coast, with a surf school and hire on the beach. Daymer Bay, a tidal estuary beach popular for paddleboarding, is 0.7 miles to the south.

The village has a pub, Co-op, and several cafes within a few minutes on foot. Rock, on the opposite bank of the Camel estuary, is reachable by a foot ferry that runs from spring to autumn. The coast path north leads to Pentire Point and The Rumps, a double-headland Iron Age promontory fort with unobstructed views along the north coast.

Suits couples or solo travellers who want a low-key base within walking distance of surf. Changeover is Saturday. Less good for anyone needing a hot tub, log burner, or pet-friendly accommodation, as the property takes no pets and has no secondary heating.
