Hideaway

Hideaway is a one-bedroom barn conversion for two on a small rural site at Mellionnec Vean near Quintrell Downs, 6 miles from Watergate Bay. The mezzanine bedroom sits above an open-plan living and kitchen space, and a Cornish cream tea is laid out on arrival.

Underfloor heating runs through the ground floor, with a wood burner and open fire for cooler evenings. The kitchen has a dishwasher and washing machine; the ground-floor shower room has a walk-in shower. Wi-Fi and off-road parking are included, and the enclosed garden has a BBQ. Up to two medium-sized pets, or one large pet, are welcome by arrangement with the owner, with a charge of £50 each per week.

Whipsiderry Beach with its low-tide caves is a few miles away by road, and Watergate Bay's 2-mile arc of sand and the Watergate Bay Extreme Academy are 6 miles away. Newquay town centre, Fistral and the airport are within 3 miles south. Quintrell Downs has a Co-op and the train halt on the Atlantic Coast Line for a day trip to Par or Padstow (via the Newquay-Par link).

Best for couples wanting a quiet rural base with fireplace evenings, and a short drive to several north-coast beaches. Less good for guests who need to walk to sand or want the bay on the doorstep.
