Jobes Cottage

Jobes Cottage is a semi-detached Cornish country cottage in Chapel Amble, near St Kew Highway, sleeping five. The property sits within an acre of grounds and is reached by a long private driveway. Two bedrooms - one double, one triple with three single beds - are upstairs via open-tread stairs. The lounge has a feature fireplace and painted beams; the kitchen retains an original slate floor.

The ground floor has a kitchen with a dishwasher, washing machine and microwave. A large enclosed garden with seating and lawn adjoins the property. The owners keep a range of animals on site - tortoises, exotic birds, guinea pigs, sheep and resident dogs - which are accessible to guests.

Port Isaac is five miles away - a harbour village with a working fishing fleet, steep streets and boat trips in summer. It was the filming location for the TV series Doc Martin. Polzeath beach, one of north Cornwall's main surf beaches, is eight kilometres around the coast. Padstow and Rock are within easy reach for eating out.

Best for families or groups of five who want rural space, period character, and animals on the doorstep. Less good for walkers wanting coastal access without a car - the village itself is inland.
