Porthcothan Bay is 3.3km from the cottage - a wide sandy bay that works well at low tide when the beach expands significantly. Rock pools at each end keep younger children occupied. Treyarnon Bay is 3.5km, a smaller and often quieter option with a seasonal outdoor swimming pool cut into the rocks. Harlyn Bay is 3.7km, popular with families and sheltered from south-westerly swells.

Padstow is around 15 minutes by car and has the full range of restaurants, a fish market, and the start of the Camel Trail cycle path. Rick Stein's flagship restaurant and his fish and chip shop are both there if that is a priority. Constantine Bay is accessible in a similar time and suits longer beach walks. The north coast between St Merryn and Padstow covers some of the most varied coastal walking in Cornwall.

Good for small families or couples with dogs who need accessible accommodation near the north coast, where comparable step-free options are limited. The three bedrooms for 4 guests provides more space than the occupancy suggests. Less good for anyone without a car - the beaches all require driving - or for groups wanting a dishwasher or more central location.
