Little Hamlin

Little Hamlin is a one-bedroom cottage near Bray Shop, outside Callington on Cornwall's eastern border, sleeping two with one bathroom. There is no garden, but the double bedroom has a balcony with furniture. Wifi is included, and parking is roadside, 25 metres from the property. It is set over two floors: the kitchen and dining room are on the ground floor, with the sitting room, double bedroom and bathroom upstairs. The owner's listing notes steps to enter the property, plus steps and stairs inside, so it is not suited to guests with mobility difficulties.

Callington sits on the edge of the Tamar Valley AONB, one of the quieter and less visited parts of Cornwall. Kit Hill Country Park - a 400-acre site rising to 333 metres and an old mining summit - is a couple of miles east. The views from the top extend across both Cornwall and Devon, and the walk to the summit chimney stack is straightforward. Cotehele, the National Trust medieval manor house on the Tamar, is about 5 miles south and worth a half-day.

The nearest beaches are on the south coast - Downderry Beach is 12.2 miles and the South East Cornwall coast around Looe is the practical choice for a beach day. Plymouth is about 30 minutes by road for larger retail, rail connections, and the ferry terminal to Brittany and northern Spain.

Ideal for couples who want a rural Tamar Valley base with good links to both Dartmoor and the south coast. Not great for those wanting beach-focused stays, as all beaches are 12.4 miles or more away. The owner does not accept children over 2 years old. Saturday changeover.
