The property is just over half a mile from Downderry Beach along a quiet lane, and one mile from the South West Coast Path, making it a practical base for day walks in either direction. Plaidy Beach is 2.9 miles and East Looe Beach is 3.5 miles for a change of scene.

The surrounding area of East Cornwall is quieter than the north coast and popular with visitors who want reliable beach access without the August crowds. Looe is the nearest town for restaurants, a working harbour, and a weekly market.
