Mural Cottage

Mural Cottage is a Grade II listed 18th-century property in Mousehole, a granite fishing village 3 miles south of Penzance. The cottage stands metres from the harbour and the village's small sheltered beach, spread across three floors.

The ground floor has a sitting room with a mural of old Mousehole, electric fire heating and a single bedroom. On the lower ground floor are the kitchen with dining area, electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge-freezer, washer-dryer and dishwasher, plus a bathroom with bath and shower over and a separate WC and basin. Steep stairs lead to the second floor, where a king-size double and a twin both have window seats. Wi-Fi is available throughout.

The village lanes and harbour front are immediately outside. Cars can be unloaded at the door before parking in a public car park about 200 yards away. The cottage sleeps five across the three bedrooms.

Mousehole Beach, a calm sandy cove sheltered by the harbour's 14th-century breakwater, is 100 metres from the front door. Lamorna Cove, a rocky inlet with clear water for snorkelling and a seasonal cafe, sits 1.8 miles west along the South West Coast Path. The village itself has galleries, restaurants, and the Ship Inn - home of the Tom Bawcock's Eve stargazy pie celebration each December. Bus route 6 connects Mousehole to Penzance every 30 minutes in summer.

Suits a family of five who want Mousehole's harbour, pubs and shops on the doorstep. Less good for anyone who struggles with stairs, as the cottage is split over three floors and the stairs to the top bedrooms are steep.
