Marazion Beach is a long stretch of sand facing the bay, with the tidal island of St Michael's Mount visible from the shore. At low tide, a granite causeway connects the beach to the island - the walk takes around 10 minutes and the route is well signposted. The island has a medieval castle, sub-tropical gardens, and a cafe. Long Rock Beach is 1.4 miles east along the bay, and Perranuthnoe is 1.5 miles south-west - a smaller, quieter beach popular with local families and bodyboarders.

Marazion has two pubs, a sailing club, and a range of independent cafes and galleries. Penzance - with its rail station, the Newlyn fish market nearby, and gallery spaces - is roughly 3.1 miles to the west.
