Two-person clifftop cottage on Freathy, the strung-out chalet line that runs along the cliffs above Whitsand Bay. Sleeps two in a king-size bedroom plus a bunk room for one or two children. Sea views span from Rame Head westward, with the 3-mile sandy beach 1.2 miles along the cliff and the South West Coast Path passing the door.

The cottage is open-plan with bi-fold doors onto a wraparound stone garden and a private hot tub facing the sea. A dishwasher and washing machine are in, plus a BBQ outside. Off-road parking is included and two dogs are welcome. No wifi - this stretch of cliff has weak mobile signal too, so plan accordingly.

Whitsand Bay's beach access is via steep cliff steps from the car parks at Tregantle and Sharrow - hard work in both directions, easier at low tide. Lifeguarded zones operate in summer; rip tides are real, so swim only in the patrolled sections. Crafthole village is 2.5 miles inland with the Finnygook Inn, and the colour-washed twin villages of Kingsand and Cawsand sit 2.5 miles east on the Rame peninsula. Mount Edgcumbe Country Park is a 15-minute drive.

Best for couples (plus one child) who want a hot tub on the cliffs, a dog at their feet, and the coast path on the doorstep. Less good for anyone needing wifi for work, or beach access without steep cliff steps.
