Penny Liggan

Penny Liggan is a five-bedroom house on Green Lane in Rock, sleeping 10 across three bathrooms. The house sits on a quiet residential lane in one of north Cornwall's most sought-after villages, 1.8km from Daymer Bay on the Camel Estuary. Rock attracts a mix of sailing families and those using it as a base for the Padstow estuary, and the house suits both.

Five bedrooms give the layout space for two families or a group of ten. A garden and BBQ work well from May through September. Wi-Fi, dishwasher, and washing machine are included. There is no on-site parking - the closest car parking in Rock is a short walk, and the ferry slipway is equally close.

Daymer Bay is a 20-minute walk north - a sheltered, sandy estuary beach that stays calm when the Atlantic coast is rough. The passenger water taxi to Padstow runs regularly in season, crossing the Camel in ten minutes and landing you close to Rick Stein's and the harbourside. Polzeath Beach is 3.3km for surf and the RNLI lifeguard service. Greenaway Beach, at 2.5km, sits between the two and draws fewer visitors.

Best for groups happy to walk or cycle rather than drive, and who want the estuary and Padstow within easy reach. Less good for anyone bringing multiple cars or needing guaranteed parking.
