Penwyn Bed and Breakfast

Penwyn is an adults-only B&B on Barbican Hill in Looe, with sea views and river views across the estuary. The property is run by host Simon Hannaford and sits above the working harbour, where fishing boats still land their catch daily.

Each room comes with a private bathroom, balcony, and free WiFi. A full English or Irish breakfast is served every morning, featuring local specialities, warm dishes, juice, and fruit - with special diet menus available on request.

Outside, a sun terrace and garden provide space to sit and take in the coastal outlook. Free private parking is available on site - a genuine advantage given how tight parking gets in Looe during summer. The property also offers bicycle parking.

Looe itself splits into East and West, connected by a Victorian bridge. East Looe Beach is right in town, Hannafore Beach is 1.1 miles away on the western side with excellent rock pools, and the coast path runs in both directions - east towards Whitsand Bay or west through woods to Polperro. The Looe Valley branch line connects to mainline services at Liskeard.

Best for couples on an adults-only coastal break, thanks to sea-view balcony rooms. Less good for families with children, since Penwyn operates as an adults-only property.
