Talland Bay Hotel, Looe

Talland Bay Hotel is a country house hotel above Talland Bay on Cornwall's south coast. Twenty individually designed rooms overlook the bay, and the South West Coast Path runs through the grounds. The hotel won Small Hotel of the Year at the Cornwall Tourism Awards 2025; parking is included and accessible rooms are available.

The Two AA Rosette restaurant won Restaurant of the Year (Silver) at the same 2025 awards. The kitchen works with local Cornish produce across seasonal tasting menus, afternoon teas, and a house gin. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are all served on-site, so a car is optional for a full day at the hotel. WiFi is included throughout, and the bar and lounge give an indoor option when the weather changes.

Talland Bay beach itself - a dog-friendly cove with two cafés and clear water for swimming and kayaking - is about 300 metres down the hill. Looe and Polperro are both under 10 minutes by car or reachable on foot along the clifftop path. The coast walk west toward Polperro through the woods is one of the better short stretches on the south Cornwall coast.

Best for: couples or solo travellers wanting hotel service, a Two AA Rosette restaurant, and direct coast path access on the quieter south coast between Looe and Polperro. Dogs are welcome. Less good for: anyone prioritising lively nightlife over a peaceful rural setting.
