Tregardock Beach, a remote north-coast strand, lies about 3 miles away. Tintagel village is less than a 5-minute drive, with shops, pubs and the English Heritage castle ruins on the clifftop headland, reached by a footbridge that spans a 58-metre gorge. Rocky Valley, with rock-carved labyrinths thought to be over 3,000 years old, sits within easy walking distance. Boscastle's National Trust harbour is around 2.5 miles up the coast.

Best for: couples after a quiet base close to Tintagel castle and the north coast path, without the bustle of the village centre. Less good for: those needing flexible changeover days (Saturday only) or looking for more than 2 guests.
