Daphne du Maurier set Frenchman's Creek on one of the wooded tidal inlets upstream. Helford Passage Beach is 0.6 miles away, Ponsence Cove 1.2 miles from the cottage and Porth Saxon Beach 1.5 miles. Helford has no shop of its own; the nearest is about a mile south in Manaccan.
