Salt House

Salt House is a five-bedroom house for ten in St Ives, set over three floors with glazed doors making up the whole seaward wall of the main living space. That floor holds the kitchen, dining area and sitting area, with a surround-sound system, a full Sky package and a covered balcony of 40 feet. A separate snug has its own Sky TV, a PS4 Pro, books, DVDs and games.

The master suite has a super-king bed, a walk-in wardrobe and an en-suite bathroom. Two further super-king rooms can be set up as twins and share a large family bathroom, and two king rooms each have an en suite and a private balcony. The bathrooms have freestanding baths, walk-in showers and heated towel rails. Cots, highchairs, toddler steps and potties are provided; guests bring their own cot bedding. Underfloor heating, bath robes and fast fibre broadband are included.

The seaward garden is enclosed and landscaped, with a terrace, a table with ten chairs, two sun loungers and a barbecue. Parking is for three cars, and EV charging is via a pay-as-you-go app with a 7.4kW charger; guests must bring their own cable. Getting to the front door means 15 steps down from the parking area. The shop is 0.5 miles away, the pub 0.3 miles and the beach 0.9 miles. No pets or smoking, and no hen or stag groups or groups under 25. Two complimentary spa passes are included at the nearby St Ives Harbour Hotel. Bed set-up requests must be made at least seven days before arrival; later ones incur extra housekeeping costs.

It suits two or three families or a group of adult friends, but the steps down make it less good for anyone who wants to avoid stairs.
