The beach is patrolled by lifeguards in season and has a car park and toilets at the north end. Bedruthan Steps, one of the most dramatic sections of the north Cornwall coast, is 1.1 miles north along the coast path. The steps themselves are managed by the National Trust and involve a significant descent to the beach.

The Scarlet Hotel and Bedruthan Hotel both sit on the clifftop above Mawgan Porth and are open to non-residents for food and drinks. Watergate Bay is 2.2 miles south, where the Watergate Bay Hotel has a restaurant and surf school on the beach. Padstow is around 15 minutes by car along the B3276, with its harbour restaurants and the Rock ferry crossing.

Best for families or a group of 5 who want sea views and easy beach access without a central-village setting. Suits guests with some mobility requirements given the accessible ground floor. Less good for those who prefer a sheltered, flat beach over an open surf bay.
