Traeth Barn

Traeth Barn is a five-star rated stone barn conversion in the hamlet of Trenance, set above Mawgan Porth on Cornwall's north coast. The conversion sleeps 5 across three bedrooms: two king-size rooms (one can be configured as twin beds on request) and a single with a pull-out trundle for a child. A vaulted first-floor living space opens to Atlantic sea views, with a wood burner for use through the cooler months.

The barn's reverse-level design puts the main living area upstairs to make the most of the outlook. On the ground floor, the bedrooms and second bathroom keep the layout practical for families. Outside, a paddock with picnic benches and a BBQ provides outdoor eating space, and dogs are welcome - up to 3 - throughout the year.

Mawgan Porth beach is 500 metres via a private footpath - a wide sandy bay with rock pools at low tide, surf schools, and RNLI lifeguard cover in summer. Bedruthan Steps is less than a mile north along the coast - a dramatic line of sea stacks visible from the cliff path, and a Dark Sky Discovery site worth visiting on clear evenings. Watergate Bay, a 2-mile stretch of north-facing sand popular with surfers, is 2.3 miles south toward Newquay.

Best for: families with dogs wanting direct beach access and sea views from a converted rural property. Less good for: guests who need a washing machine on site (none listed), or those wanting an urban base with shops and restaurants at hand.
