Kingsand Beach is 3.4km away, Cawsand Beach 3.7km. Both are sheltered coves in the lee of Plymouth Sound with relatively calm water. The distance means you will drive or take a long walk rather than nipping out for a spontaneous swim.

Kingsand and Cawsand are the main draw - two linked villages with independent pubs, a local food scene that has grown in the last decade, and very few visitors relative to the north coast. The Cremyll ferry to Mount Edgcumbe runs from Cremyll, 4km north.

Thursday changeovers April to September - this limits flexibility for the main season and is worth planning around.

Best for couples or a family with a dog who want the Rame Peninsula over the better-known north coast beaches. Suits guests who prefer village atmosphere over resort facilities. Less good for guests who want beach access without a car journey, or who need Saturday changeovers.
