Springfield

Springfield is a two-bedroom cottage in Kingsand, sleeping 4 across three floors with 1 bathroom. The layout includes a lower-ground sitting room opening onto a split-level private courtyard, and an outdoor utility room housing the washing machine. Wi-Fi, parking, and dishwasher are included. Dogs are welcome.

Kingsand and Cawsand are twin villages on the Rame Peninsula, sitting on the western edge of Plymouth Sound. They were part of Devon until 1844 - the county boundary stone is still visible on the main street. Kingsand Beach is 100 metres from the cottage; Cawsand Beach 400 metres. Both are south-facing, sheltered bays with calm water that suits families. Whitsand Bay, a longer and more exposed stretch of sand, is 5.6km to the west.

The villages have pubs, a cafe, and a small shop. Mount Edgcumbe Country Park borders the peninsula to the north and east, with 865 acres of formal gardens and coastal woodland open year-round. There is no direct road link to Plymouth - the Cremyll Ferry runs regularly and takes around 10 minutes, which makes it a practical route into the city without driving.

Best for couples or small families wanting beach access from the door in a quieter setting than Falmouth or St Ives. Not great for anyone who needs a car-dependent base with easy motorway access - the Rame Peninsula requires committing to the drive in and out. Friday changeover.
