Smugglers Cottage

Smugglers Cottage is a single-storey 1-bedroom, 1-bathroom bungalow at Trebarwith Strand, sleeping 2. No children, including babies, are accepted. Everything is on the ground floor, but there is one small step into the property, and the booking page notes that it is not suitable for wheelchair users or people with limited mobility.

The open fire is the main interior feature, suited to the exposed north Cornish coast where summer evenings cool quickly. Wifi and a washing machine are included. Parking is in the council car park.

Trebarwith Strand beach is moments from the cottage - sandy at low tide, framed by dark slate cliffs, with a pub and cafe at the top of the beach path. At high tide the beach disappears entirely, which is worth checking against the tide times before you plan a beach day. Tregardock Beach, a more remote and quieter option, is 1.5 miles along the coast path.

Tintagel Castle, the dramatic Iron Age and medieval site linked to the Arthurian legends, is roughly 1.5 miles north along the South West Coast Path. The site is managed by English Heritage and requires a short steep descent from the headland. Port Gaverne, a sheltered cove good for swimming, is 4.5 miles south.

Best for a couple who want a coast-edge base with good walking along the North Cornish coast path. Friday changeover, and one well-behaved pet is welcome.
